Identity Sermon Series in Loveland, Co
The purpose of Redeeming Identity is to share with people the importance that God puts on our identity and how to discover who we were created to be. He knows that we live out of who we are. This requires a definition of identity that is much broader that the typical one of “Who I am.” As we grasp God’s perspective of identity, we can begin to learn the importance of knowing who God is, so we can discover who we are.
This is not a ministry or a message that can be or even should be communicated by one person. So, I was grateful that God brought along a friend and partner in the ministry, Pastor Erik Miller of Grace Community Church. Over the years, I have had many conversations about the concept of identity, which has helped focus the message and ensure that we continue to have a Biblical foundation in all that we communicate.
Identity Sermon Series
I am excited to share that over the next 7 weeks, Pastor Erik will be doing a sermon series on Identity at Grace Community Church in Loveland, CO. The sermon series will start on Sunday, September 8. The order of the topics will include:
September 8 – My Identity In Christ
This sermon provides an excellent introduction to identity from a Biblical perspective, including the importance of identity to God and the gospel from the perspetive of identity. This includes the definition of identity from Redeeming Indentity.
September 15 – The Not Yet Becoming the Already
We are justified, when we are saved. We are glorified, when we get to heaven. The time between now and them is opportunity for sanctification. This sermon provides a introduction to what sanctification is, how we partner with God in this process of becoming, and provides the steps we discuss to transform our identity: submit, sacrifice, and substitute.
September 22 – Principles: Identity’s Truths
We live in a world where it is even more difficult to determine the truth from what looks like the truth. Our mind is wired to agree with thing we already agee is true and ignore what is not true. A foundational aspect of redeeming our identity, becoming who God created us to be, is redefining our principles. This sermon discusses the importance of redefining our principles and how God uses the Bible to provide us with a framework for knowing the truth.
September 29 – Perspectives: Identity’s Point-of-View
The way that we view and interpret the world impact how we interact with it. Our perspectives are essential to our identity, in determining our point-of-view in all circumstances. For us to become who God created us to be, our perspectives need to be redeemed. This sermon introduces some different perspectives that we hold and how God wants to transform them for His glory.
October 6 – Purposes: Identity’s Motivation
Everyone is searching for their purpose. It is an important component of who we are that leads to what we do. In this sermon, we discover that we have the same purpose that Jesus did, to glorify God and serve others.
October 13 – Priorities: Identities Choice
We use priorities every day to make decisions, deciding that one option is better than another. In this sermon, we focus on the teaching of Jesus that our priority should be to “seek first the kingdom of God.” This is not just supposed to be one of many different priorities competing for our attention but a single overriding priority that guides the decisions we make in our life.
The titles for these individual sermons are still a working in progress and may change as the sermons are developed further. As the sermons are completed, the sermon title will be updated as a link to a recording of the sermon, along with a brief summary of what was in the sermon.
This is a great opportunity to share the message that is at the heart of Redeeming Identity, that we can only discover who we are created to be by knowing who He is first.
